Discover the Lively Ong Ang Walking Street Bangkok
Ong Ang Walking Street is One of Bangkok’s newest tourist attractions which features a market, live music, street art, street food and even boating on the canal. Ong Ang Walking Street has a wonderful atmosphere and is open every Friday to Sunday from 4PM to 10PM. For guests of The Gravitique Hotel looking for something unique in Bangkok, the walking street doesn’t disappoint.

THE HISTORY OF KHLONG ONG ANG
Years ago, Khlong Ong Ang was covered with metal sheets by market sellers, and it was known as a center to buy electronic equipment and toys often referred to as the “Iron Bridge Market.”
In 2015, a beautification process took place which resulted in the clearing of the shops built over the canal. As the renovation took place, the canal’s water was filtered and cleaned and trees were planted to line the walkways. Today, the area is very popular with locals and tourists and also won the 2020 Asian Townscape Award for Landscape Improvement Project From UN-Habitat Fukuoka.
ENJOY AN EVENING AT ONG ANG WALKING STREET
Ong Ang Walking Street is a wonderful place for an evening stroll. The walking street is extremely photogenic and offers up a delightful array of live entertainment in the form of buskers, street art and exceptional street food. Near the Saphan Hin bridge, there is a raised seating area overlooking the canal to sit and have a snack at.
Head to the lower section of the walking street for favorites such as BBQ skewers and noodles. Plus, there’s also a few Indian restaurants with canalside seating.
For those who want to enjoy the canal in a unique way, kayaks and stand up paddle boards are available for rent. There are two different pontoons that offer rentals, and although the water may look a bit dark, you can rest assured that it is clean and safe for kayaking or paddle boarding.
